Hello all, I'm returning to school to take the prerequisite coursework, so far I've completed general chem and general bio. I'm wondering what are some of the most useful upper-level classes to take to help prepare for PA school (I will take A&P, orgo, and microbiology anyway). Many schools have their core requirements, plus a few "other" upper level classes of your choosing (things like cell bio, genetics, pharmacology, immunology, histology, biochem, pathophysiology, etc.)
If you had to pick a couple of them, which would you take and why? Thanks!
PS--I get a little confused because, for example, many PA schools "recommend" genetics, but many PAs I've talked to say they never really did much genetics in PA school anyway.
Upper-level science courses

I agree. Genetics, though interesting, isn't critical. My preference would be for cell bio - you will use that much and often. After that, pharmacology or biochemistry would be helpful. But start with cell bio.
