Unsure of Major

Post by mst720 » Tue Jul 29, 2014 5:52 am

So far I have changed my major 3 times. Originally I was in engineering, then I switched to business, back into engineering, and now I am currently a business major. But this summer I have started to consider the health field. I enjoy working with kids, helping others, and I love science and learning. I also enjoy work that challenges me. I feel being a PA could be an excellent fit. I have just transferred to a new school, and am starting my first semester in the fall. This new school offers a bachelor of sciences in healthcare studies, and I was wondering if this would be a good major to switch into? My only concern is not graduating on time and needing more loans. If I stayed in business, but completed the required pre-requisistes such as anatomy and physiology, would I have a chance of getting into PA school? I am just now looking into the health field, but feel this is a wonderful fit. As someone with no knowledge whatsoever about the health field, I am just looking for some suggestions and genuine opinions.

You can do it with a business major, but it's not ideal. I think I would encourage you to just get finished. Too many changes of major already. if you keep flip-flopping around you're not going to graduate at all.

Once you're out you can take the courses you need for PA school (if you still think it's a good fit).

Until then, I suggest you do plenty of PA and MD shadowing so you have FULLY investigated this field.

Hi, I am currently in my first year of college full time! I took college courses throughout high school and most of them have been sciences or medically geared courses. I was working towards obtaining a degree to become a registered nurse but I've decided to go in a different direction and try to get into PA school. I am unsure of what bachelor's degree i should try to pursue. I have looked into biology, psychology and also a bachelor's in health science. Are those all good choices for programs?
