On our first day of orientation, we we told to let go of our type A personalities and to not worry about our GPAs beyond maintaining a 3.0 average. I'm 2 months into my PA program and I can't help but wonder -- does our GPA not matter at all?
What about when it comes to looking for jobs?
Are there special honors at graduation for students who have performed well?
Are there class rankings in PA school?
GPA matter in PA school?
Re: GPA matter in PA school?
Grades are rarely asked for on PA job applications. Reasons why you might want to maintain a high GPA, other than to learn more:
1) In case you intend to apply for a residency or some kind of advanced training
2) Occasional job apps. I was asked on an electronic app for a Kaiser job. But it didn't look like they placed much/any emphasis on it.
