PAs? or MDs?

CASPA requires applicants to obtain 3 letters of reference/recommendation. How do you go about it? Suggestions? Questions? Put them here.

PAs? or MDs?

Post by jordman21 » Wed Aug 15, 2012 2:48 pm

When I am looking to get references should I get your MD reference letters or more PA reference letters.

I work very closely with 10 different Dr.s and would have no problem getting all MD references. I also would have no problem obtaining at least two PA references. However, I am not applying to med school. This is PA school and I don't want to send out the vibe to the admissions that I'm thinking PA school is something different than what it really is. I was wondering how admissions views this?

Would that be a better option of having 2 PA letters and 1 MD? Or 1 PA letters and 2 MD?

Of note: I really don't have any academic instructor references I could use.

If you have no academic instructor, I suggest 2 PAs and 1 MD. Your instinct is right - you aren't applying to med school, so you should weigh more heavily with PAs. But having one MD helps to round things out.
