LOR from recent grad of school to which I'm applying

CASPA requires applicants to obtain 3 letters of reference/recommendation. How do you go about it? Suggestions? Questions? Put them here.

LOR from recent grad of school to which I'm applying

Post by Jonnyola87 » Wed Sep 17, 2014 2:41 pm

A friend of mine is a graduate from a program to which I'll be applying soon. By the time I'm looking to start, she'll have graduated about a year and a half prior and been working for over a year as a PA. However, at the time of my application, she'll have only been working as a PA for a few months. Is getting a letter from her inappropriate considering her limited time as a PA? Or will it carry weight considering she herself graduated from the same school. Caveat: I work with her as an EMT full time.

Thank you all for your help.

I don't know that I would say it's inappropriate, but it's not a good idea. This isn't anyone with whom you have worked as a pre-PA, so she can't honestly critique you as a candidate. It also looks fishy. Go with a real reference.
