I have a Ph.D in science four years ago, and being a post-doc after that. I contacted my advisor for a letter of reference for PA program. He wanted to know what emphasis to facilitate my application.
I only have a general idea that this letter from my advisor will show my academic performance. But for anything in detail, I am a little bit uncertain. Besides, good grades at school (GPA will match what reference letter says), good research conduct is also important or not? anything else will be worth to mention?
Thank you.

Re: Letters of Reference from my advisor
Look through your programs' websites to see what they focus on (great lab skills? technical standards? ability to handle stress? strong work ethic? commitment to underserved communities?); encourage your advisor to focus on the qualities emphasized by the programs' websites.
I make a 2 columned chart with my qualities and how they match that of my number 1 program and give that to letter writers so they can try to include that in their letters. GOOD LUCK!

Letters of Reference from my advisor
Hi
I am looking for advice for requesting letters of recommendation. Relavence to jobs is helpful, but I am most interested in scholarship letters of reference. What has worked for you? How many do you ask for from one person? How much time do you give them? What do you tell them about yourself when you ask?
Thank you
