RDH to PA

Post by patti » Tue Apr 26, 2016 3:35 pm

I've been a dental hygienist for 2 years and I find it a routine by now. I really like the patient contact, diagnosing and treatment planning portion but I feel like there is no room to grow in this field for me. I always liked medicine but considering my age (37) I was reluctant to go to med school, specially with 2 kids :) That's why I am really happy that I found out about PA profession which sounds like a little less time consuming and lower cost of study. But I have noooo idea where to start ?? I know I need a bachelor degree first, I have only associate right now. But what do I choose to do it in ? Does it matter? As far as I understand after bachelor I have to apply for 2 year master program in PA? Also is it possible to do the PA program online? Another question is what is the difference between PA and NP ?? Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)
