Hey : )
I am interested in the PA program and I'm really excited about the career choice I made ! However , this dentist told me that Physician assistant will be obsolete in 25 years ....is that true ?
Physician Assistant obsolete in 25 years ?
Re: Physician Assistant obsolete in 25 years ?
I'm not sure why he/she might believe that. The profession is growing at an ever more rapid pace, and Obamacare promises to demand more midlevel practitioners to reduce costs and to compensate for the significant shortage of primary care physicians.
US News and Money magazine all have named PA as a top career choice for several years running, in large part based on growth in the profession. Similarly, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects robust growth in the profession. Supply is likely to outstretch demand (even at the rate that new programs are being created) for 20+ years. These estimates could fall short, but it would be a major surprise if they were FAR off the mark.
