How to go about a career as a PA

Post by Micayla » Fri Sep 25, 2015 1:19 am

Hi,

I took a semester off of college to figure out what I really wanted to do, because I was struggling and did not want my grades to suffer. I have always had a interest in health care, and decided to do a little research to see the options I had! When i came across the PA career, I just knew it was the perfect fit! Since then I have been thinking about how I want to approach the PA school process. I know you need a certain number of HCE hours depending on which school, but I am not sure what the best way to get those hours. I was thinking after I get my undergrad degree in chemistry, I would get my EMT certification to get the hours I need, or volunteer/intern in a hospital during the summer. I love the idea of being an EMT because I would be way more hands on than volunteering/interning in a hospital since I do not think that with my lack of medical related knowledge as a chemistry major I will be as hands on as I would like to be. Also, the problem with volunteering/interning in a hospital is I got to school out of state, and come home during the summer, so I do not think I can commit to a hospital (at least right now because I do not have a car anymore) I am just curious about the absolute best way to get the hours I need would be.
