So I wanted to at least try and throw out my academic journey thus far in college, because while it's really improved I still worry about its toll on my future application to PA school. So first semester my freshman year it was a very hard adjustment going from a private all girls school where my class size was at most 16, to lecture halls and classrooms with 30+ students. I'm trying to sound as little excusey as possible but this really affected the statistics class I took that first semester. Math is not my forte and it was hard to learn such a different mathematic in that kind of environment, so I ended up getting a D long story short. The very next semester I retook it and was able to replace the D in my GPA with a B. My grades in general that next semester were an immense improvement and I got back on track with how to study like a college student and time management. Anyway, this semester I decided I could handle killing two birds with one stone, to take chemistry and its lab even though it is not required with my major. (I'm a psych major-wanted to leave room for other activities in college). My major does require a third science course outside of bio 151 and bio 152 so I thought instead of taking geology like most psych students I'd do chem. Well it didn't work out long story short again, half my class was flunking so I decided to leave while I could with a W on my transcript instead of a D oR f. I kept the lab though because at the time I had an A and thought it'd be good to get it out of the way especially if i had a good grade/was going to take chem again eventually. long story short again I automatically failed my chem class. This wasn't due to my actual grade, I had a A-, but for an attendance policy. I could only miss 2 labs without failing and I missed one because I was sick. This was not counted against me at all but then a situation happened where my prelab quiz timed out on me (something required to be able to complete that weel's lab) and my professor would not let me attend the lab.It was extremely frustrating and stressful but there was nothing I could do. I failed the chemistry lab.
So now I am going to retake this lab next semester and have no doubt I will get an A in it. My university replaces up to 15 credits of grades but the original grade will still be present on my transcript even though its not included in my GPA. when PA school look at this, will it look absolutely horrible that I have a D,W,and F? Especially the lab because I feel like it is weird that I would fail a 1 credit lab. I know that this is something I might be able to explain in my essays. Does anyone have any suggestions how I should move forward and how to explain that kind of situation?
Even with the F in the lab this semester I got a 3.43 and my cumulative is a 3.27 with the F included. Once I retake the lab it will change my GPA, and my science GPA is a 3.5
Will this negatively affect my application

Your science GPA is very strong I commend you for this my friend.
These are your immediate goals.
1) Retake chemistry lab and get an A
2) Bring up that cumulative to a 3.4 to be more competitive.
3) You didnt talk to me about clinical experience or research remember these are usually holistic processes I need you to be well rounded.
Dont worry so much. The last thing you need is high cortisol levels that prevent you from memorizing information.
Remember stress = more stress.
Yes, you still have a shot.
It all depends on what you do now.
