Rad Tech looking for career change

Post by ladytreco » Wed Dec 25, 2013 7:16 pm

After 10 years of practing both CT and MRI I feel the need to be a bigger part of the healthcare team. I love my job and will always have somthing to fall back on but time for a change. I feel in love with the PA profession and have decided to persue it as my next career. I have my undergrad in Radiation Science and many of the common prerequisites for PA school though some may be older than 5 years . My GPA would average to be around 3.5-3.8. I am about to move from Texas to California. Any advice on how I should proceed? Many thanks.

I would apply this cycle. Narrow down who you might ask for a letter of reference ASAP. You will need three and they will need several months advance notice, which will give you time to share the process with them and check in from time to time to keep yourself in their thoughts.

You should open up a CASPA account now to become familiar with what will be required in the application. You can start assembling/planning your application now. Starting early will allow you to do a little at a time so you can submit a strong application and not feel overwhelmed.

I encourage you to leave at least 3 weeks and possibly more to work on your essay, which will be very important. See our main website for information on the essay. www.mypatraining.com

Try to get your application in early, which will improve your chances.
