Major, HCE, or Both?

Post by Zara » Thu Dec 25, 2014 7:14 pm

To major in biology and minor in psychology then apply for PA school (with a year of shadowing)

To major in biology and take CMA classes at the same time (in order to get some HCE)and then apply to PA school

To get schooling to become a CMA and take all the PA prereqs, then get some HCE(as a CMA) and apply to PA school

I will be shadowing regardless of whether or not I added it to the things I listed. I want to become a PA, and think that a CMA is pretty close to that so I want my HCE to be a year or two as a CMA. I don't, on the other hand, want to spend two years getting my certification/schooling to become a CMA and then another two years working as one before I go to PA school, and then another two years attending PA school in order to become a PA.
In short, I was thinking of taking classes to become a PA while getting my Bachelors degree in Biology and a minor in psychology. Then I would get some HCE with my Medical Assistant job and get some shadowing in before applying to PA school

Thats about it, thanks in advance for offering advice!
