Hello!
I'm halfway through my junior year (college) and am thinking about applying to PA programs at the end of this year. I've been worried about the possibility of getting in though. I'm a Psychology major, but I have completed the pre req's for many PA programs and have taken other advanced biology classes. My overall gpa is around a 3.5 and my science gpa is around a 3.0 (a little above). However, I volunteer all of the time with various organizations, and I have been doing research on adolescent psychological disorders for the past year. I also will have 500 direct patient care hours by the time of application from working at a nursing home, and I have been working at a summer camp for 3 years mentoring at risk middle schoolers. In addition, I will be volunteering in a health clinic in Peru for a few weeks before applying. I know that my gpa isn't very competitive, but I believe I will also be able to get good letters of recommendation from the nursing home and volunteering I have done. Does anyone know what PA admissions counselors like to see and what they consider most important?? I am very passionate about helping and caring for other people and I really want to become a PA! Also, has anyone been in a similar situation and have gotten admitted into a program?
Thanks so much
